The Emergency Food Cupboard in Rochester, NY, had a goal to fill and deliver at least 60 Thanksgiving dinner baskets this year to families who are struggling financially. We decided we would bring this challenge to the SIGMA staff through a "Maximum Gobble" campaign.
Staff were provided with brown paper grocery bags with a list of grocery needs attached, and a week or so to turn it around. In addition, Kenyon Blunt, CEO and Jaime Sanchez, CFO, ponied up $200 and threw down the gauntlet to SIGMA employees to match it.
So how did we do with our campaign to raise some funds to buy turkeys and provide some deserving families all the fixings for a full holiday meal?
Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of the employees we raised $600 and collected 27 bags of groceries... That converts to 40+ Thanksgiving dinners!
When our holiday drive goods were delivered to the Emergency Food Cupboard last week, the coordinator said that SIGMA had single handedly guaranteed that they will be able to reach their goal of 60 holiday dinner baskets!
Now that's a lot of turkey, and also a lot to be thankful for! It's not too late to donate. Find a local food cupboard in your area and drop of a bag of groceries or a little cash. Your small donation can go a long way to helping someone else have a special holiday.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!
